NTUC Health and NTUC LearningHub Collaborate with CaregiverAsia to Provide Caregiver Services, Training and Employment Opportunities for Caregivers

Singapore, 27 April 2017 – Caregiver Asia Pte Ltd, a specialist in providing on-demand care services, and two National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) Social Enterprises, have inked separate agreements to collaborate to provide Caregiver services over CaregiverAsia’s online platform and to train and accredit Caregivers to be freelance Caregivers in homes.

NTUC Health Co-operative Ltd (NTUC Health) will provide a comprehensive range of quality and affordable home care services including home personal care and home healthcare services through Caregiver Asia’s online Caregiver booking platform. Online booking for NTUC Health’s team of medical professionals and trained caregivers is immediate and hassle-free.

NTUC LearningHub Pte Ltd (LHUB) will collaborate with CaregiverAsia to upgrade the knowledge and skills set for freelance Home Caregivers through a series of Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) courses and individuals can use their SkillsFuture Credit for these courses.

Some of the courses include:

  • WSQ Work in a Safe Working Environment that Meets the Workplace Safety and Health (Healthcare) Guidelines
  • WSQ Assist Clients with Clinical Care Needs
  • WSQ Support Clients in Rehabilitation Exercises and Activities of Daily Living

In addition, LHUB and CaregiverAsia will produce three sets of three-minute e-learning videos on the proper and appropriate techniques on hand hygiene, grooming and communication for Caregivers. These videos will help in preparing Caregivers for Home Caregiving and will be hosted on CaregiverAsia’s e-learning platform.

Ms Yeo Wan Ling, CEO of CaregiverAsia said, “We are very excited to be collaborating with NTUC on these initiatives. The shared economy is becoming increasingly prevalent and so having a trusted online platform for freelancers will help Caregivers find jobs on their own terms. Furthermore, with the training accreditation, it will increase Caregivers’ expertise and knowledge as well as assure Careseekers that the services rendered are up-to-date and professional.”

Said Ms Karen Bek, Deputy Director of Home Care, NTUC Health, “NTUC Health is happy to provide home care services through CaregiverAsia. The synergy between NTUC Health and CaregiverAsia is to make home care services available and easily accessible to a wider group of people in the community, who prefer to be cared for in the comfort and privacy of their homes.

Mr Kwek Kok Kwong, CEO of NTUC LearningHub said, “We are pleased to be working with CaregiverAsia on this project. Singapore is aging fast. The need for manpower in the eldercare industry is increasing correspondingly and we hope to equip our eldercare workers with the relevant skillset. The training will also help family members who are taking care of their elderlies at home. Through this initiative, we hope to build a robust eco-system of eldercarers to cope with the aging population in Singapore.”
