Singapore, 8 February 2018 – Caregiver Asia Pte Ltd, an online aggregator of trusted on-demand health and caregiving services, and Allium Healthcare Holdings Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned member of the GK Goh Holdings Group (“GK Goh”), today announced the launch of the inaugural Community Nursing for Older Adults Workshop. Participants will be awarded four Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points.
The movement of care from acute hospitals to the community is a national priority in Singapore. Furthermore, rising client needs, and ageing population and workforce are some of the drivers for change. Demand for care to be delivered closer to client’s home are putting more pressure on nurses to deliver safe, timely and quality care. Nurses are essential in the delivery of continuous care as they often serve as an interface between acute and community settings, focusing on prevention, self-management and providing support to transit clients smoothly across the health and social care services.
Dr Lina Ma, Group Vice President (Clinical/Aged Care), Allium Healthcare said, “The workshop is a basic introduction to community nursing. The interactive teaching materials in this workshop invites the participants to explore the complexities of nursing in the community; the function of primary healthcare; and to develop a profile of the community in which their clients live and work. Moreover, the knowledge the participants’ gain will enable them to develop an understanding of the needs and concerns of the older adults living in the community and those who care for them”.
Ms Yeo Wan Ling, CEO of CaregiverAsia said, “We believe that aging in place – living with purpose and dignity, is a choice that everyone needs to have when they grow older. Being able to access qualified, experienced Caregivers would be a necessary first step in making that choice. This workshop, a component of our Caregiver Support Services (CSS), will prepare and equip nurses to play a key role in delivering positive care outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for those older adults with co-morbidities that need complex care interventions”.
